Concept iMONASTERY
MONASTERY was founded by the General Arthit – Phornsan Kamlang-ek Foundation. iMONASTERY was built as temporary site for training and dhamma learning of international monks from around the world. It is also the refuge of the mind for the people in Papae, Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai, especially on the holy days of Buddhism when merit making activities are organized, including offerings, keeping precepts, and meditations.
The construction of iMONASTERY is divided into 3 stages
The 1st stage consists of the zone for training international monks in the Monk Life Project. This is the 30-day training program for newly ordained monks. The program is conducted in English by experienced teaching monks. The facilities inside were designed specially to be suitable for foriegners.
The 2nd stage is the zone for laypeople’s meditation retreat, under the program called “iRetreat Papae”. This is the project for anyone to come to learn the right method of meditation from the experienced teaching monks, who teach in English. It is open for groups, individuals, or families. The facilities include the staff hostels (20 ladies, 20 gentlemen), meditation hall, dining hall, huts for 43 ladies, and 15 gentlemen, toilets, buildings for yoga, wellness center, organic farms producing vegetables and herbs, and riverside building for seminars.
The 3rd stage is the zone for resident monks and for monks who stay on for long-term training.
